Do we need cloud API standards? No, not yet

Good question, and good debate, see here.

My belief is that the top priority for a while will be to have APIs hat may work across cloud and on-premise, allowing corporations to join the cloud in a step by step fashion, where and if it makes sense for them.

The first thing a cloud platform needs to address then is to enable multiple implementation scenarios within its domain; until cloud APIs becomes a competitive element to attract ISV to onboard a specific cloud, the focus on them will be lower, and only if major ISV will drive the concept of standard APIs this will become relevant for cloud platform vendors. My 2c.
