The other day I was writing on how Apple will be on your TV (probably, if other players do not act fast enough). Interesting enough, just few days later see the various news about Google’s endeavors in the same space (and I tend to believe they will have a good shot…), or how Apple and Google compare.
Question: are these news on IP TV just an effect of the fact that there is the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin 😉 ? or they actually provide a sense of how soon this will become real and serious enough to represent a concrete transformation of how we watch TV?
My belief is that the flurry of IP TV offers will not be “complete” soon enough, but that they all have to hit the market before the Holiday Season starts in order to make a mark; and that this time the TV hardware players (Sony, LG, Samsung on top) are playing this as a differentiating factor to support their end-of-line sales.
But yes, I am already starting to figure out how I may need to re-cable the house (bring broadband downstairs, change cables etc.) and how to end sooner the existing cable TV contract.
